The Better Hair Day

August 24, 2010

A better hair straightener than ghd? Remington Salon Pro launched its new Pearl styler with a sumptous lunch at The Grove with hairdresser Ashlee Kellett demonstrating how the new smoother and hotter Pearl is a really “good hair day.” Buy GHD Mk4

The Grove in St Patrick’s Square, Auckland CBD played host to trade and media as Ashlee Kellett took us through the three Remington heated appliances for styling. Cheap Ghds

First up, Tyler was her straight hair model with sleek hair from the Pearl Styler ceramic straighteners. This is the pearl in Remington’s crown, with the fastest heat up time, the fastest heat recovery, and the smoothest performance compared to ghd under testing. The exclusive dual layer ceramic coated plates contain real pearl, and have 15 times more ceramic than standard single layer or solid ceramic plates. The glide is eight times smoother ensuring the hair’s cuticle lays flat while straightening and imparting incredible shine.

Next up, Rhianna modelled ringlets and waves from the Remington conical tongs. With no clamp, one holds the hair curled around the conical tongs at the very tip - carefully - so as to not get one’s fingers burned! Hold 15-20 seconds and get a fabulous curl or for a beachy, tousled look, run hands through the curls and get a softer, broken up finished. Ghd Hair Straightener Sale

Finally, model Emma showed the Remington hot brush styling of a salon blowdry finish; blown out big waves. Wind hair around the hot brush, hold 15 seconds and push the release and it easily falls out. Thread is very excited about trying this one!

Wants Bowraville Road reopened

August 12, 2010

A meeting to discuss the future of the Bowraville/Bellingen Road was held on Wednesday, August 4 in the Bowraville Theatre at Bowraville. ghd straighteners

The meeting was well attended by representatives of both Bellingen and Nambucca Councils, the RTA, GHD and many community members. GHD presented the meeting with four options for discussion.

It soon became clear that most community members prefer the road to be restored and reopened. The road has historical significance, it is a vital link connecting regional communities, it is the only alternative route at times when the Pacific Highway is blocked between Urunga and Macksville, and it gives emergency services access to remote properties and bushland, and it is an important part of the Mid North Coast “tourist drives” network. Moncler

GHD have asked both councils to include an updated version of the questionnaire regarding options for the future, on their web sites, and invite members of the community in both shires to voice their opinion by filling in the questionnaire.

Community members at the meeting urge readers to take the time to fill in this questionnaire as it is only the community strength and solidarity that can prevent the RTA from permanently closing this road. Billig ugg Stiefe

The RTA has the last say - without proof of community support for the reopening of the road, our community stands to lose part of the regional road infrastructure that dates back to the 1800s.

They also urge readers that may not have access to the internet, to take a walk into the council chambers and ask for a hard copy of the questionnaire.

Seeking a slice of premium denim market

August 10, 2010

For a look into Gap Inc.’s future, take a walk down Rush Street and step into a sliver of a store called 1969. louis vuitton handbags

The denim boutique, opened in May, offers no sign that it is part of Gap. And that is the point.

Neat stacks of jeans are stretched out from waist to hem on a table running the length of the store. More jeans are folded neatly in cubicles under tables.

On a rack just outside the oversize fitting rooms hang a single example of every style of jean in the store: seven for women (curvy, sexy boot, real straight, long and lean, boyfriend, perfect boot and always skinny) and seven for men (skinny, straight, boot, authentic, standard, easy and loose). A few vintage T-shirts and leather belts decorate the walls, but for the most part the store is all about denim. true religion

As the premium denim craze swept the country in the last decade, Gap was nowhere to be found. While shoppers were paying $200 to $300 for Citizens for Humanity and True Religion, the ubiquitous mall chain discovered an uncomfortable fact: Shoppers interviewed in focus groups viewed Gap jeans as suitable for mowing the lawn but not for work or a date, Marka Hansen, the president of Gap North America, told the New York Times in an interview last year.

Nordstrom Rack to open Nov. 11 in Peoria’s Arrowhead Crossing

August 4, 2010

Kaelyne Peterson lives in Glendale, works in Peoria but drives to Scottsdale to get her fix of bargain-priced True Religion jeans from Nordstrom Rack. louis vuitton wallets

In less than four months, when the Nordstrom Rack - a brand that carries items 50 to 60 percent off the original price at the department store chain - opens its third Arizona store in Peoria’s Arrowhead Crossing, the 21-year-old could walk to the Rack from her workplace.

“Awesome! Fantastic!” Peterson said on learning an opening date has been set.

Nov. 11 will mark the brand’s entry into the West Valley. It is taking over a 36,000-square-foot space vacated by Linens ‘n Things south of Bell Road on 77th Avenue.

Scottsdale and Chandler each have a Nordstrom store and a Rack. Tucson is set to get a Rack next year.

A company spokesman said the Rack will hire about 70 people to staff the store.

Peterson isn’t the only one jumping with joy.

“It’s a great use of an existing, empty location, and it’s great that it’s going to be filled again,” said Maria Laughner, Peoria’s business and real estate development manager.

Between December 2009 and May, the city’s retail sales-tax revenue was up 3 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.

In addition to the sales-tax dollars, it would be great to see a new business thrive in the city, Laughner said. Cheap True Religion

“It makes me sleep well at night when our businesses do well. It’s sad to see businesses go under,” Laughner said.

While Peoria hasn’t lost too many stores in the economic drain that’s sucked the life from erstwhile retail giants, some notable chains have gone bust. Those include Linens ‘n Things and former retail giant Circuit City.

Laughner said the Rack would bring a different kind of brand to Peoria’s retail mix.

“It has a little bit more cachet, and it’s a draw in and of itself,” she said.

Nordstrom spokesman Colin Johnson said the company had been looking for a footprint in the West Valley.

“We know we’ve got lots of loyal customers in the area, and we felt this was a terrific shopping center in this part of the region,” Johnson said, referring to the bustling shopping area with a T.J. Maxx, Ulta and Barnes & Noble. It’s near Arrowhead Towne Center and close to the Loop 101 and Bell Road interchange.

He said the slacking economy accelerated the company’s long-term strategy to open more Racks.

“What happened is a lot of spaces became available in these shopping centers, which fit our long-term strategy, so we’ve been in the position to move quickly to open some of our stores, including this one,” Johnson said. ugg boots sale

Through the end of this year, the company plans to open 17 Nordstrom Rack stores and three Nordstrom stores nationwide.

A lot of customers shop at both stores, Johnson said, with the Rack holding the advantage of “terrific fashion finds at significant savings,” Johnson said.

That makes sense to James Ward, a professor at Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business.

“In the present economy, many consumers of luxury goods are looking for a good deal,” he said.

Champagne corks popping again in luxury business

August 3, 2010

PARIS — Champagne corks are popping again in the luxury business as “It” bags and expensive watches this year sell like hotcakes from Beijing to New York, signalling the turning of a page after the global financial crisis.

As the owner of Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Puma — French luxury goods giant PPR — on Friday joined a string of high-end brands reporting ballooning 2010 profits, firms and consultants predicted rosy days ahead for luxury goods. louis vuitton wallets

“The recession’s starting to look like an old memory for the luxury industry,” said analyst Matthew Curtin, quoted by Dow Jones Newswires.

PPR chief executive Fracois-Henri Pinault, whose son is married to film star Salma Hayek, said of the group’s doubled first half net profits, “very good results … in an economic environment that remains hesitant.”

“There’s a new perception of luxury, a more discreet sophisticated luxury where notions of heritage and craft play a big role,” he added.

Asia has played a prime role in turning around luxury sector fortunes.

PPR’s net profit in the first six months shot up 113.3 percent to 403 million euros (528 million dollars).

Earlier this week, the world’s biggest luxury group, LVMH Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton, announced a 53-percent rise in net profit to 1.1 billion euros.

“We were expecting good results from LVMH but not that good. It was a good surprise,” Isabelle Ardon, of specialist luxury investment fund SG Actions Luxe, told AFP.

While luxury goods sales slumped eight percent overall last year (though some big names weathered the storm), even smaller brands such as Hermes (22.8 percent sales increase), Burberry and the world’s top high-end watch firm Luxottica are seeing burgeoning orders this year.

Specialist consultants Bain&Company said that last year’s slide, first noted when Christmas sales crashed in the United States, had been offset by continuing demand from Asia, notably from China’s growing monied class. Cheap True Religion

Worst hit last year were wines and spirits, as well as watches and jewellery.

But the Remy Cointreau champagne and cognac group was back in the black in the first quarter of 2010, with sales up 21.3 percent against a drop of 7.5 percent in 2009. And bottles of Laurent Perrier champagne are popping at pre-crisis levels again.

In Switzerland, watch exports gained 35 percent in June, largely due to a 40 percent hike in high-end watches.

Luxury supremos nonetheless remain quietly cautious, mindful of new tremors on the financial horizon.

LVMH chief Bernard Arnault offered no set forecast for the coming months but given the group’s return to pre-crisis figures in all branches, he said he was “very confident” about the future.

Consultant Ardon said brands such as Louis Vuitton or Hermes that control distribution had sailed more calmly through the troubled waters of the crisis, while products such as champagne or watches, often sold by other retailers, had fared less well as these firms got rid of stocks.

“There was so much clearance of stocks in 2009 that in the end shipments of champagne were far below actual customer demand,” she said. ugg boots sale

This year’s bounceback largely has Asia to thank. Hermes saw 45 percent sales to Asia, excepting Japan, while Burberry sold 43 percent of its goods to Asian buyers, bar Japan.

2010 also saw the return of US luxury buffs, with LVMH noting an 18 percent rise there and an 11 percent increase from Europe.

In Europe, sales are better due to the fall of the euro, the return of Asian and US tourists and new demand from European buyers, analysts said.

“There is continual sustained interest from China and the demand is for Europe-crafted goods, with luxury outlets opening constantly,” said another anaylst.

“In the US last year it was not the done thing to buy luxury goods, it went against the grain to show off your money. Now a psychological barrier has been overcome.”

Ugg boot smuggler’ denies being a spy

August 2, 2010

Anna Fermanova, a 24-year-old US citizen who was born in Latvia, is under house arrest at her parents’ home in Plano, a wealthy suburb of Dallas, Texas, on $50,000 bail until her New York hearing. She faces up to 10 years in jail. louis vuitton wallets

Scott Palmer, Fermanova’s attorney, said that comparisons between his client and 28-year-old Chapman, who was expelled from the US this month, were ill-founded.

It’s just because she’s an attractive woman with a Russian-sounding last name,” Mr Palmer said.

There’s been no allegation that she has anything to do with that whole thing.  It’s just bad timing.” Cheap True Religion

Mr Palmer said his client spends most of her time in Russia, where her husband lives and works as an English teacher.

She was basically doing a favour for her husband’s friend, who asked her to buy these things for him because they’re very expensive in Russia,” he said.

Ms Fermanova had not yet entered a plea to the charges, but told the New York Post that the allegations against her were “over-dramatised”.

I’m freaking out right now,” she said.

She is accused of trying to export three night-vision rifle scopes to Russia without advance approval from the State Department, which considers them weapons.

The $7000 Raptor 4X and two Night Optics sights, each worth $4000, were hidden inside Ugg boots that were packed in Fermanova’s luggage. Federal agents swooped after she checked in for a flight from New York’s JFK Airport to Russia on March 1.

According to the charges against her, David Mondanaro, a special agent with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was tipped off in February that Ms Fermanova wanted to buy the items.

Fermanova admitted she covered identification marks on the munitions with marker pen to make the items easier to smuggle out of the US, Mr Mondanaro claimed. ugg boots sale

Facebook pictures of Ms Fermanova that show the blonde partying and posing for the camera circulated since news of her arrest, echoing the snaps of Chapman, who posted provocative pictures of herself on the social networking site.

Tina McReynolds’ Little Plastic Obsession

July 30, 2010

Tina McReynolds holds three music degrees, teaches full-time, makes greeting cards and runs her own side business. And she does it all despite — or maybe with a little help from — her secret addiction. louis vuitton wallets

Thumbnail image for pursedisplay.jpg

Purses.

No, McReynolds isn’t hot for this year’s Kate Spade, nor does she obsess over Gucci, Prada or Fendi. She collects vintage box purses manufactured from the ’40s to the ’60s.

McReynolds pulls up to MacAlpine’s Soda Fountain & Restaurant, where she sells some of her purses, holding a small oval-shaped white box purse containing her wallet and some touch-up makeup. In her trunk are seven boxes brimming with more Lucite, Bakelite and acetate purses in all shapes, sizes and colors. And that’s only a small piece of her collection.

purselady4.jpg

The purse whisperer, with her first fab find.

It all started with a silver metallic basketweave purse that McReynolds spotted at the now-defunct Sandra’s Thrift in Phoenix. “I knew nothing about it,” she says. “But whenever I like something, I start to research and look up information on it.” Cheap True Religion

The curious McReynolds bought the purse and started researching its origin. It turned out to be a circa 1950’s Dorset-Rex originally sold in New York.

Now she can look at one and determine with reasonable accuracy the designer, the material and the era. Think of her like a “vintage purse savant.” McReynolds became so knowledgeable about purses in part because of her vast collection, but also because she now markets and sells her vintage finds.

“The funny thing is, I’m not a purse person!” McReynolds quips. “I’d been looking to gain business skills. So I took the purses to a new level and started a business with them.”

At last count, this purse diva owned about 160-180 vintage bags — though only about 20 were reserved for her personal use. The others are sold through MacAlpine’s, her Etsy shop or online at www.824nothingmore.com (a private joke about her day job’s ideal working hours). “I’ve limited myself to a cabinet. I’m cramming [them] in the cabinet and every once in a while I say well, if it fits on top of the cabinet, it’s ok,” she sheepishly tells New Times. ugg boots sale

purses.jpg

So what is the monetary value of a vintage purse? “The value is in the eye of the beholder,” McReynolds says cryptically. A small acrylic purse with flaws or damage might go for $25 or $30, while some of the rare and highly decorated ones can easily fetch $600.

But for McReynolds, it’s not about how much money she makes from selling her plastic friends. It’s about the business experience and contacts she gained, and ultimately about the experience of owning and enjoying a fun little accessory. “It’s a purse. It should be used and enjoyed, taken out on the town and danced with.”

The Church and Homosexuality: Post-Lambeth Reflections

July 29, 2010

I formally applied for ordination training in 1975, just as l was coming up to my first degree exams. It meant filling in a form to be submitted to ACCM (as it then was). If you were also ordained around that time, you may remember this form, and the astounding list of questions that had to be answered under the heading ‘Personal Health’. They began conventionally enough with various enquiries about one’s general soundness in wind and limb, but then suddenly veered off into startling suggestions of personal peculiarity. louis vuitton wallets

‘Are you afraid of the dark?’

‘Do your hands shake, for example, when pouring a cup of tea’?’ (Obviously important for Vicarage entertainments, that one.) ·

‘Do you have, or have you at any stage had, a bedwetting problem?’

And my favourite of all;

‘Have you lost interest in almost everything?

l suppose a cynic might say this showed a commendable realism on ACCM’s part about the motives of ordination candidates, but it did give me worries about what I was letting myself in for. How many depressed and tremulous bedwetters had already got through the net, l wondered, and did I want to join them’?

However, my sense of psychological superiority was short lived, because a couple of weeks after sending back the form, I was summoned to pay a special visit to the ACCM psychiatrist. This, l later discovered, was because l had given permission for ACCM to see my medical record, and although l was unaware of it, my medical record showed that at the age of fifteen I had asked my GP if there was a cure for being gay. The doctor had written it down, and that was enough to ring the alarm bells at Church House. Cheap True Religion

So l had to go and be checked by the ACCM psychiatrist. This was the first time I realized that in seeking ordination I was entering a danger zone. I was furious that it had happened. but I duly trotted down to London from Oxford one Saturday morning and arrived at a remarkably dingy practice in Battersea. It was the sort of place one might imagine a back street abortionist to operate in, a tiny surgery with peeling wallpaper lit by one fly-blown naked lightbulb. This apparently was the Church of England’s psychiatric HQ. But the truly remarkable thing was the ACCM psychiatrist, whom at first I took to be a patient, since he was dressed in a leather jacket with studs and chains, leather boots, tight jeans, very long dark hair, and a cerise chiffon scarf. When he introduced himself as the ACM psychiatrist, I began to wonder if this was some sort of entrapment procedure - perhaps I was supposed to respond to the uniform and try to get off with him, whereupon an ACCM official would leap out from behind a curtain and say ‘Aha. Got you red-handed’

That did not happen. We had a cup of tea instead, successfully poured by me with a steady hand, and a cosy chat about family and feelings. Nothing at all about sexuality, nor the entry on my medical record, which was the reason I was there. After tea he said, since he realized I was more than a little angry about what had happened, that he would write his report on me right away so that l could see it myself and post it to ACCM on my w ay home. So he did. He wrote, ‘Dear ACCM Secretary, I have examined Mr John and conclude that he is a good deal saner than those who sent him to me. Yours sincerely,…’. I posted it in the box outside.

Such was my introduction to the gay problem in the C of E, and I suppose it was symptomatic. Until 1987 the problem of homosexuality was generally dealt with by ignoring it - even when it was staring you in the face, like the ACCM psychiatrist’s chiffon scarf. The policy of not dealing with it but quietly getting on with it was particularly endemic in old-style Anglo Catholicism, Some people regret it now and look back wistfully to the days of quiet toleration when those who wanted to did, and those who didn’t want to pretended it wasn’t there. No doubt in a way it was easier. But it is important to grasp that it is precisely that culture of double-think and turning the blind eye which has created the mess we are in today. ugg boots sale

From the mid nineteen-sixties at least, when the subject began to be openly discussed in secular society, one could find a certain amount of constructive wisdom about it in the Church, but only ever in private, in pastoral consultation or confession. From the time I was a teenager most Catholic clergy would say privately that if you were not celibate, you should avoid promiscuity, find a partner and live as discreetly as you could. By the time l was at theological college in the mid seventies the staff took a very supportive line. When l began the relationship I am still in, I went along to the Principal to own up, and asked if I should leave. To my astonishment and joy he congratulated me. He told me I had been a miserable, introverted academic, and that this relationship would make me a better human being and a better priest. He was right; it did. They were the wisest words I ever heard him utter. When I informed my diocesan bishop, the response was equally kind and supportive. He thanked me for being honest with him, and certainly saw no bar to my being ordained. But there was no question of this support and pastoral wisdom being expressed in public. Such truths were to be kept within the Catholic clerical club, where gay relationships were entirely normal, and still are. By this time, however, the veil of secrecy is in tatters, and the old kinds of gentlemanly understanding will not work.

The new The new wing at Mall of the Emirates, set to open on September 1, is all about luxury at every level.

July 27, 2010

These are five-star toilets but I keep calling them seven star,” said Fuad Sharaf, the vice president at Mall of the Emirates, pointing out the new restrooms. “We are investing heavily in the business and that is all for the customers.” Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

In the men’s room, the counters are made of shiny marble and the oval sinks are of hammered nickel. The ladies’ room has a similarly opulent look.

Majid Al Futtaim Properties, the developer behind Mall of the Emirates, has spent about Dh500 million (US$136.1m) building the 10,500 square metre extension to the shopping centre, adding another 40 luxury stores such as Christian Louboutin and Versace. The new wing will also have valet parking at the entrances on three levels. The ground floor will have restaurants and seating areas around a fountain.

Mr Sharaf said the new facility was necessary to stay ahead. “If you are going to remain the same for 10 years no one will bother to come to your mall. This is the nature of the business.”

It is also a sign of how competitive the Dubai retail market has become. In the past two years, several new malls have opened in the emirate, including Dubai Mall, one of the largest in the world, and Mirdif City Centre. Cheap True Religion Jeans

By the end of this year, the total mall retail space across Dubai will reach an estimated 2.5 million sq metres, according to the property consultancy Jones Lang LaSalle.

And with many consumers in the Emirates adopting thriftier spending habits, retailers have been having to work harder to attract customers.

Some brands have started relocating to better-performing malls and some centres with vacancies have lowered their rents, analysts say.

But Mall of the Emirates has remained popular with tourists and residents, despite the difficult economic environment, said David Macadam, the regional director of retail at Jones Lang LaSalle.

The mall has some of the highest sales performance of any mall in the world, still,” Mr Macadam said.

Despite the glut of retail space in the emirate, he said he expected the extension to draw customers.

Although some luxury retailers had a tough time last year, there are still wealthy consumers who are looking to shop, Mr Macadam said.

They have a guaranteed footfall at Mall of the Emirates,” he said. “It just has a very strong catchment and a good demographic profile.” ugg boots sale

Footfall at the shopping centre was steady throughout last year and has risen between 3 and 5 per cent this year, said Mr Sharaf.

On the average weekday, between 70,000 and 80,000 shoppers visit the mall, and that rises to between 100,000 and 110,000 at the weekends.

Mr Sharaf said Mall of the Emirates had not been forced to drop its rental rates as the shopping centre continued to be busy. The mall and the new wing were fully leased.

Building that extension and investing heavily in this mall, that will make sure that we maintain and increase our sales and footfall,” he said.wing in Mall of the Emirates feathered with luxury throughout

Billet finds $800 Christian Louboutin pump, searches for its sole mate

July 26, 2010

Hey, Cinderella, a Manhattan man has your fancy slipper. Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

Moshe Billet has been searching for the owner of a $800 Christian Louboutin right-footed pump he found on the street.

Billet, 27, said as soon as he saw the red-bottomed shoe with a 4-inch heel, he knew whoever lost it would want it back.

“I saw the red bottom. I know what that means,” said Billet, who works in financial services.

“I quickly called a friend of mine who I know wears these things, and I’m like, ‘What would you do if you lost one of these?’ She’s like, ‘I would cry.’”Cheap True Religion Jeans

He found the open-toed, European-sized 39 shoe about 11:30 p.m. on June 23 near the intersection of 96thSt. and Broadway.

Billet, who lives in the area, immediately posted a lost-and-found ad on craigslist and a picture of it on both his Facebook page and Twitter account.

He even taped up flyers in his neighborhood to try to find the owner of the shoe - which, in a pair, sells for $795 at Neiman Marcus. ugg boots sale

Billet — whose hunt was first reported on the Ink Lake blog — said he thought he found the owner last week when a colleague spotted a flyer posted on W. 69th St. by a woman who lost a Christian Louboutin shoe. It turned out her missing pump was suede, while his is black leather.

“How was I gonna prove that the girl lost her shoe? I was gonna make her come with the other one. You know, produce the second glass slipper,” Billet said.

Boot buyer walks into copyright row

AN ISLANDER is warning others to be wary of buying Ugg boots online as she faces a possible £5,000 legal bill to free a pair impounded by Customs in the UK. Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

Karen Gibson, 50, spent £100 ordering a pair of boots from Australian website the Ugg Store.

But she has now received a letter from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) telling her the boots, which bore the word ‘ugg’, infringed copyright laws. Cheap True Religion Jeans

She discovered that the problem arose because of an international copyright dispute between a group of Australian boot retailers who claim they have sold shoes called ‘ugg boots’ since the 1970s and US firm Deckers Outdoor Corporation, which bought the trademark ‘UGG Australia’ in 1999 and has since tried to stop other companies from selling boots bearing the name ‘ugg’.

The company Mrs Gibson bought boots from is not affiliated with Deckers, so the UKBA – who regard them as infringing on Deckers’ copyright – seized the goodsugg boots sale

Promotes Cowhide Men’s Business Bags on Bagsok.com

July 22, 2010

As the leading international solutions provider, Abizark.com has been helping a variety of online stores increase their market shares and popularity. Operated by Abizark.com, www.bagsok.com is an online store providing cheap, trendy bags for both men and women. Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

Abizark.com is supporting www.bagsok.com to promote the exquisite men’s bags series. Instead of attracting customers’ attention with low prices, Abizark.com emphasizes the superior quality and enjoyment these products bring to their customers. Meanwhile, for any order over $200, buyers get an extra $10 off. Starting from July 5th, this promotion lasts for one month.

The 2010 fashion trends have been focusing on men’s accessories such as bags and shoes. Usually fashion designers agree that bags are the most important accessories for women only, however, men have started to pay more attention on their outfits. Different from women’s handbags, men’s bags are supposed to be practical and durable. Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

What does Abizark.com think about it? Simon Gao, the marketing director in charge of the project of Bagsok, holds his own opinion toward men’s fashion trends: “Men have the desire to be fashionable and to some extent, they expect much more than women. They are seeking a perfect balance between fashion and practicality, therefore our target consumers are successful businessmen. Our business bags on www.bagsok.com are made from first-class cowhide and designed by top-ranking designers, representing both the distinguished and exquisite.”

Actually, the tide is high in the men’s fashion market. Famous brands such as Louis Vuitton, Armani and Prada have released their men’s business bags series one after another. Durable texture, fashionable design and low-key style are common features for men’s bags. According to Abizark.com, these features help businessmen feel more confident and composed. ugg boots sale

There’s a great chance lying in the fashion industry: the design and manufacture of men’s bags were newly born during the last decade and they are still much less developed compared with women’s. In a word, he who seizes this chance will be the winner in the future fashion business.

Food and Louis Vuitton Handbags on ‘Top Chef’

July 21, 2010

Perhaps it’s just me but “Top Chef Season 7″ seems to be the season of mediocrity.

Typically around this point in the season I’ve chosen my favorite chef and have my predicted winner. Season 1 I was spot on with Harold, Season 4 Richard Blais let me down in the final, and Season 6 I stuck with Bryan Voltaggio — since his brother Michael won I figure I get half credit.

So far this season, Angelo and perhaps Kenny are the only stand outs. I can’t bring myself to root for Angelo — despite his ninja-like agility — and I don’t see Kenny keeping up the momentum.

Well, Stephen it is — mark my words.

Quickfire Challenge

Tonight we had to sit through yet another gimmicky new Quickfire challenge. The chefs were asked to create a dish and then puree it into a baby food version of the dish. Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

Really?…Really???

Even Tom Colicchio, who was judging the challenge, had a look on his face that I can only describe as a-la-Eric Ripert.

A twist to this week’s challenge was that Padma and Tom each were allowed to award their favorite dish with a $10,000 prize. Arnold thoughtfully proclaimed that if declared winner, he’d donate his winnings to Thai orphanages for children with HIV. Alex on the other hand reminded us just how bizarre he is by saying he would blow his winnings on a hooker and an 8-ball — I’m sure that hookers and 8-ball translate better in his native Russian.

The actual winners of the challenge where Tamesha and Kenny. Tom chose Tamesha for her salmon with vegtable chowder with a lobster stock, Thai basil and licorice oil. Padma enjoyed Kenny’s curried chicken mango salad with confit of butternut squash and maitake mushrooms.

Elimination Challenge

The Elimination Challenge paired up the chefs to compete in a three round breakfast, lunch, and dinner showdown to create dishes that the Hilton Hotel can use on their menu. Both members of the losing pair would be sent packing in this double-elimination challenge.

The chefs quickly began choosing teammates. The team of Alex and Ed played like an episode of “Perfect Strangers” complete with bickering and off the wall mishaps — like forgetting to put food on all of the plates.

The Angelo-Tamesha team showed Angelo practicing his particularly creepy style of flirting on Tamesha. Meanwhile Arnold was out to prove that he is “more than a Louis Vuitton handbag” — ultimately we find out he is merely a cheap Canal Street knockoff. I know, I know it’s hard to tell from the outside but you need to look at the stitching of the emblem on the inside.

The judges panel for the challenge was introduced and featured some “Top Chef” vets: Mike Isabella (season 6), Bryan Voltaggio (season 6), and Spike Mendelsohn (season 4).

During the breakfast challenge, Tamesha proclaimed that the texture of her eggs were exactly what Voltaggio would serve in his restaurant and therefore she was a lock to win the round.

While Tamesha didn’t win the breakfast round with her silken, float on your tongue eggs — or as the judges referred to them, overcooked — she did win the lunch round with teammate Angelo exempting them from competing for elimination. They prepared slivers of beef, jicama-asian pear salad with mint, cilantro and kimchi vinaigrette.

Also winning exemption from having to cook in the final dinner round were Amanda and Stephen, Tim and Tiffany, and Ed and Balki er I mean Alex.

Kelly and Andrea won the final dinner round and the challenge with their braised beef short ribs, polenta shitake mushrooms and citrus gremolata. Kenny and Kevin also did a braised short rib dish with horseradish, however, their lack of glaze on the beef, minimal sauce, and no taste of horseradish in sight landed them in the bottom with Lynne and Arnold. ugg boots sale

It was Lynne and Arnold who were sent home for their pineapple red curry mussels with squid ink pasta and focaccia. Overall the judges thought that the concept was good and appreciated that the team was creative but the undercooked pasta ruined the dish.

In a sketchy way, stir the pot of intrigue.

The Chanel burka-wearing vamp who goes clubbing with Kate Moss at centre of sensational court case

For Patrick Ribbsaeter – the lover in question who sat in the dock listening to her give evidence – it was one of the few times he had seen her dressed in a burka.

Cleared after a two-week trial of assaulting her chauffeur, Mr Ribbsaeter, 30, tells today of the first time he set eyes on 28-year-old Miss Al Amoudi – in her room at The Conrad Hotel in Bangkok in May last year when she demonstrated considerably less sartorial restraint.

She was introduced to him wearing a revealing corset and designer jeans. Instantly bewitched by ‘this really beautiful woman’, he recalls being struck by what he describes as her close resemblance to the Colombian pop singer Shakira. Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

They became lovers that first night, beginning a destructive five-month relationship that was, he claims, defined by ‘hard partying’.

She didn’t wear the burka as a rule,’ he said. ‘She wore designer clothes. Though once or twice in my presence she was completely covered up – the first time I visited her flat in London, for example.

It was a black burka and it had the Chanel logo on the back of it in crystals.’

Last week’s criminal case also shone unwelcome light on the lifestyle of a woman who claims to be a princess, yet had an illegitimate child after separating from her husband. She guards her privacy scrupulously – yet is the focus of much rumour and speculation in London’s Arab community. Cheap True Religion Jeans

So just who is this fast-living, apparently fabulously wealthy princess, who, according to Mr Ribbsaeter, shuttles around London in a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI, counts Kate Moss as one of her friends and has boasted of dating, among others, a former Premier League footballer and two film stars?

Trail of destruction: Patrick had a torrid short affair with ‘the vamp in the veil’ Sara Al Amoudi

Trail of destruction: Patrick had a torrid short affair with ‘the vamp in the veil’ Sara Al Amoudi

One might expect Mr Ribbsaeter to fill in some of the many blanks. After all, no one so close has ever come forward before to talk publicly about her background. In some ways he does do this, but at the same time his testimony serves only to stir the pot of intrigue.

The couple first met when Mr Ribbsaeter was invited to her Bangkok hotel room by a male friend, whom Miss Al Amoudi had met in a bar.

My friend said she wanted to party and when we got to the room she was on her own, drinking champagne and quite drunk,’ said Mr Ribbsaeter. ugg boots sale

She told me of her many problems, of people who tried to rob her – business associates, people who hang around her.’

At the time of their first encounter, Mr Ribbsaeter, originally from Gothenburg, had been living and working in Thailand for two years. He said Miss Al Amoudi readily divulged details of her life, but in a sketchy way, and, because he did not ever meet any members of her family beyond her young daughter, was able to confirm very little of what she said.

We were in bed one night and she told me she was the daughter of Osama Bin Laden,’ he said.

She spoke highly of him, said he was a nice man, but she said she had no contact with him. I didn’t know what to believe.’

An LV bag for $1 at Fashion Bay ! Maybe I can get lucky and win something cool here1

July 19, 2010

Just before Lindsay Lohan appeared in court Tuesday, she surprised her Twitter followers with a tweet about a sale on Louis Vuitton bags. For someone facing a potential jail sentence, heralding a sale seemed rather inappropriate. The post, sponsored by online auction site FashionBay, proclaimed, “OMG!? An LV bag for $1 at FashionBay! Maybe I can get lucky and win something cool here!” Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

While it probably wasn’t the best time for Lohan to bust out a sponsored tweet, as she was sentenced to 90 days in jail and a 90-day inpatient rehab stint soon thereafter, the advertiser may have been looking to capitalize on Lohan’s emotional sentencing. And it worked — the post was quickly retweeted by more than 100 people! Cheap Tiffanys

Lohan is no stranger to ad placement in her tweets. Just last week, she tweeted, “I love Fendi!! Beyond the Rack has it today for 50% off. I love this place!” A few days earlier, in a truly odd pairing, LiLo posted, “Want to get up to 75% off on great vacation deals? Just got a few invites to this exclusive site. Join now & RT.” Both tweets were supplemented with links and the word “ad.”

Lindsay Lohan courtAd.ly is one of several companies aiding celebrities in making money through ad placement in tweets. According to Ad.ly, the service “enables you to monetize the valuable content you are producing in streams like Twitter, MySpace and Facebook. Ad.ly pays you to send an ad to your followerslink of london charm bracelets on behalf of brands you love (like an ad unit placed inside your stream). You get to approve every ad that gets sent to your followers to ensure authenticity.”

Kim Kardashian, 50 Cent, E! Online, Ashlee Simpson Wentz and Soulja Boy are among Ad.ly’s top “publishers,” who are paid by advertisers to tweet in favor of a brand or product.

In Lohan’s case, timing was everything. As the Internet buzzed about her appearance in court, the FashionBay-sponsored tweet went live. Then, just a few hours later, Lohan met with Judge Marsha Revel to learn her fate — the news of which dominated Google searches all afternoon.

Was the decision to run a sponsored tweet the morning of Lohan’s court appearance a stroke of marketing genius? An act of desperation on Lohan’s end? Or simply an insensitive play on the downfall of a once-successful actress? True Religion purses

Sean Rad, founder and president of Ad.ly commented that “advertisers plan their campaigns months in advance and do not pick publishers based on their news standing.”

Last January, several sources revealed that many celebrities were paid to tweet about brands and services. OK! Magazine reported that “celebrities including Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, Whitney Port and Audrina Patridge can reportedly earn up to $10,000 per tweet for companies including Sony and Nestle.”

Kardashian later lashed out in the New York Post, saying, “Am I not allowed to talk about something I like without people assuming I must have been paid to do it? … I want my fans to know what products, gadgets, foods, clothes and beauty products I like.”

Twitter advertising has expanded from sponsored tweets to “promoted trends,” where brands can pay to appear in the list of “trending topics” or hottest terms on Twitter.

WCBS reporter Brendan Keefe attacked by drunk golfer at country club

July 16, 2010

Maybe he should have stayed in Brooklyn.

A former WCBS reporter who ditched New York to raise his family in a “great place” is recovering from face surgery after a beatdown near his Ohio home. Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes

Brendan Keefe and his wife were attacked by a drunken golfer at the Ivy Hills Country Club outside Cincinnati on Sunday, cops said.

The beating left him with a fractured eye socket and severed tear duct that will keep him off the air for a month.

His wife, former CBS news writer Tiffany Keefe, was shoved to the pavement in the scuffle and suffered a skull fracture and concussion, police said. Cheap Tiffanys

“It doesn’t sound like there’s any permanent damage for both of us, which is really good news,” Brendan Keefe told The Cincinnati Enquirer on Tuesday.

Things got ugly when Duane Thompson, 38, lost control of his golf cart and it crashed near a spot where Tiffany Keefe was sitting with her infant daughter, cops said.

A heated argument broke out, and Thompson allegedly pushed the mother down to the ground, knocking her unconscious.

Brendan Keefe, who was in the pool with his 3-year-old son, ran to his wife - and the two men exchanged blows.

“We were victims of a vicious and unprovoked attack by a drunk man,” Keefe said. “All I care about is my wife’s recovery and the safety of my young children.” link of london charm bracelets

Thompson was arrested and charged with assault, cops said.

Keefe - now an anchor on WCPO - told The Enquirer he left for Ohio in 2007 because he did not want to raise children in New York.

“We moved our family from Brooklyn because we wanted to raise our family in a great place,” he said. “We love Cincinnati. We don’t regret our decision for one minute.”

Shortly before the move, the Emmy Award-winning reporter was arrested for cursing at a cop while covering a water-main break in Queens. True Religion purses

NYPD cops used a loudspeaker to tell Keefe to move out of the street during the East Elmhurst flood in 2007, angering the newsman.

“Why don’t you get out of your warm, f—–g car instead of saying it over your microphone?” Keefe snapped.

He was booked at the 115th Precinct stationhouse, charged with obstructing governmental administration and released. The resolution of the case could not be determined last night.

The Ospreys are away at Newcastle Falcons, while Newport Gwent Dragons host Gloucester and the Scarlets welcome Leeds to Llanelli.

The opening weekend is completed by three all-Premiership fixtures, Cup holders Northampton at Saracens, Sale welcoming London Irish and Leicester hosting Harlequins. True Religion purses

The competition, whose final will be on the weekend of 19 March at a venue yet to be confirmed, sees teams from pool one play those in pool four, and those from pool two facing sides from pool three, the group winners making the semi-finals.

The English sides have the motivation of Heineken Cup qualification if they win the tournament.
